The national body responsible for identifying vessels of ’national significance’ and worthy of preservation has reaffirmed its support for the restoration of Whitstable’s iconic Oyster Yawl and awarded the Charity £500 towards the cost of restoring the hull. Applications for grants was fiercely competitive and the application had to meet the organisation’s standards for conserving the nation’s maritime heritage.
